Satellite TV AND Radio, Theatre-like Sound, Cable, iPod, and Bluetooth all in one!!!
Hi everybody, here is my first post!! My father in law gave us his 1978 Argosy 31', stored inside for all these years. He bought it new when my wife was 1 year old. It's an all-original beauty! Except for the paint job of course, which was done at the Airstream factory in 1995.
Anyway I designed and installed an Audio/TV/DVD/phone/Satellite system that does it all:
1.) Front living area flat screen 19" tv
2.) Rear bedroom flat 19" tv
3.) Trailer-wide OR front or back only hi-fi sound
4.) Bluetooth hands free cell phone
5.) SD memory card Reader
6.) USB connections for MP4 or music
7.) Support for iPod touch movie playing throughout
8.) Satellite TV
9.) PORTABLE Satellite Radio
10) Microwave oven
11) 2nd (Auxiliary) air conditioner / heater - now have three heat sources
12.) Cable TV
13.) Amplified VHF and UHF analog TV
14.) 12 volt AND 120v usability (except microwave and air conditioner)
15.) Pre-wired for outdoor TV if desired (just plug it in)
16.) Pre-wired for subwoofer below the sofa.
The TV's can play the same DVD movie on both screens with or without full trailer stereo sound. Or, one can play DVD while the other plays Satellite TV, or both can play Satellite. Both TVs can view contents of the SD memory card -- digital camera pics, etc. One TV can have trailer stereo sound while the other plays TV internal sound, or vice versa.
WOW!!! What a difference!! The stereo I pulled out -- if you can believe it -- was the WORKING original Motorola 8 track player (anybody want it?).
This incredibly simple system consisted of the following components:
1) An In-Dash DPVideo brand DVD player with DVD, Radio, SD, USB, and Bluetooth (Fry's Electronics) ($225)
2) Two Toshiba 19" LCD TV's with built in DVD player ($330 each on Amazon)
3) Direct TV satellite receiver that we already had.
4) a $100 Best Buy "LG" Microwave oven, 1100 watt
5) $80 for dish and tripod with hold-down stakes.
6) Three 20 foot RCA lines
7) Two 12 foot RCA lines
9) a bunch of Coax cable
10) A cell phone with bluetooth
11) A Walmart portable air conditioner 12,000 btu
Basically, I ran three 3-conductor RCA wires under cover in the plumbing track from the front overhead to the refrigerator compartment at center. Perfectly matched wiremould runs from floor to ceiling compartment above couch. I also added a wire for sub woofer if we decide to put one in.
Then we ran the coax from the tv to the satellite receiver, which has one coax from the dish for input and then splits out to the two tvs and a third connector for outside TV if we want it.
Of course we had to add support for the pressed walls on the living room side and bedroom side walls of the center refrigerator and pantry area.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Oops, disregard the "Need" list!!
Oops, disreagrd the "need" list, that was a note to self that I forgot to delete before capturing the image! It was just a note for me to add the microwave and Air Conditioning wiring -- I am basically adding an extension cord that will allow me to convert from 30 to 50 amp with two separate power inputs, next project!!

Thanks Sky ... just figuring this system out ... where the heck is the home button!!??? Ha!! Yeah I'll post some inside pictures once I figure out where they go in here, personal profile or pictures pages?? The inside is just as near-mint as the outside, and a little closer to our world now that we have traded eight track for satellite radio and tv!

Thanks for the diagram. I have added it to the list of things I'd like to do with my non-Airstream trailer. I have yet to figure out "final" furniture configuration for the front of the trailer, and will use this diagram as I mentally mock-it-up.
Very nice trailer! We were pleased to find our 1983 in nice, original condition and paid a premium for it because of that.

Hi all, thanks for the compliments! My father in law maintained that trailer very well, and we will continue that.
The system works great, I'm putting finishing touches on the install and will post new pics when it's done. Obviously the pictures shown here were before it was installed.

Welcome to the Airforums...glad you could join in and add your obvious enthusiasm to the Forums.
Great looking trailer and what a system! You're going to make all the techno-dweebs and gismo-freaks among us drool big time!
