Rear Teelevision cable rear outlet

Hi Folks
for the life of me I cannot figure out the cable/coax wiring in my 2002 31 Classic. I have over the air reception from the front cable port but when I try to plug into the rear coax I cant get a signal. I pulled the cover off in the front and there were three cables. One input and two outputs. All connections were tight. There was also a small circuit board involved, bot sure what it does.
Went to the rear coax and pulled the cover. My manual shows a single coax which would make sense to me but again I found a small circuir board and TWO coax cables. I cannot get a signal from either cable.
SOoooooooooo..............
Any ideas what the circuit boards are?
Any ideas why I would have two coax cables in the rear?
I can use a multi-meter but dont know what to test or what 'normal' is. Any ideas?
I find the manual remind me of my younger days fixing cars with "Clymer" shop manuals. Close but no cigar!
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Pete
