Rear camera replacement

Airstream sent me a new camera. Anyone replaced one of these? I’m trying to figure out how this plastic grommet is removed.

I’ve done it a few times. Lots of Blue painters tape around the hole to protect the skin. Then a little bit of heat from a heat gun (not to much). Then use a bone tool to remove the grommet.

Am I using the bone tool to pry the grommet from under the lip?

Correct, it’s not easy but it will come out. it was put in the hole without the wire in it. this allowed it to collapse down smaller. The wire prevents this from happening now.

All I’m doing is swapping cameras. Is it possible to pull the wires out without damaging, possibly one wire at a time? Or stick to the original plan and pull the whole thing out? Appreciate the help!

You could possibly do it that way. Maybe use the wire you have exposed now and splice wires there. No crimps, solider and heat shrink then tuck the wires back in the shell before sealing.

Good idea! I’ll try that
