My trailer does not have a stereo. So any thoughts on how to configure the space to hold one? Thanks.

So still looking for a little advice. On the head unit.

Looks like I am going to put in Kicker component speakers in front and rear. I will post some pictures as I put them in.

Most Sovereigns of 1972 or so had the stereo mounted in one of the overhead cabinets in your picture. The housing was usually made from a thin plywood, cut and clipped together. Another piece of plywood (I would think 1/8" luan door skin would suffice for the entire assembly) would make the front cover. Cut the wood so the new stereo will slide in. The speakers should be in the walls between each wing window and the first side window in the front, and just behind each window in the bedroom.

Thanks for the post. I have the old speakers out. So I am going to make the cutouts a little bigger for the component speakers.
I just thought it was odd there was not a spot for the head unit. I'll give it a go cutting some wood for it.

We had speakers but no stereo which struck me as odd. We'd owned our 76 for over a year before finally stumbling on the stereo that was mounted under the curbside arm rest of the gaucho.

Because I wanted really nice component speakers I needed more depth.
So I decided to use solid oak.

Using Kicker RS 65.2 speakers which are some of the best car speakers made but still wanting a little retro feel this is the result. Still working on the head unit.

We just bought an Argosy 24' double with no radio. I almost went with the traditional front system but decided against it. I am in the process of putting in new systems in the center 'bureau' area. I mounted Pioneer speakers in the ceiling and am building a small drop down soffit under the upper cabinets to house the Boss Am/Fm, CD, DVD player with a USB input for an Ipod. The LCD will go on the common wall with the kitchen with a stainless 360 degree TV mount. This way we can see it from the front dinette that I am building in place of the gaucho.

I will post pictures as I progress!

I have the entire cassette/radio original assembly. But lately the radio quits working sometimes. I am looking into replacing it. Any suggestions on the radio to replace with.

I am about to redo the stero in my Overlander - Trying to find an indash with tape (they are hard to find now most have CD now). I want to keep it in the front with the 8 track (it works). I have the tape adapter with CD. This way I can listen to 8 track, tape or CD. Might have to upgrade the speakers - don't know if the old ones will handle the upgraded units.

And here is a picture of the head unit installed. I put a switch and fuse on the hot wire to turn it all the way on and off. Head unit has ipod adapter and is satellite and blue tooth ready and has remote. Put together with the component speakers it sounds awesome. Thought I might have to put in an amp to get sound this good like a car but that would be overkill at this point. Very please with the sound quality.
