No Picture when Playing DVDs

We are recent owners of a 2009 Flying Cloud and we cannot get a DVD to play on the TV. The sound comes through, but no picture. We have a SONY multi disk player and the Sansui TV. We also have a Direct TV mini receiver tie wrapped to the back of the TV. I don't know if this unit is causing the problems or what. Please know that I have attempted to look at former posts to try to resolve this issue, to no avail. Would really like this to be resolved before taking our granddaughters camping this weekend! They are being raised with no TV so watching a Disney movie would be a treat! I appreciate your help!!

Look on the back of the TV and see where (if) the dvd cable is plugged in and then select that input on the television. Or just run through the inputs until you find it.

This must be frustrating.

Here are some questions that might help get at the problem.

Do you get video with other sources like antenna or cable?

Does the DVD connect through RCA cables (in which case there should be a red, white and yellow - the yellow is video) or HDMI cable?

Is there a setting for brightness or some other setting like that for the DVD or DVD input which is all the way off?

Do you have two tv's? Check the HDMI splitter behind the dvd player.

1) 1st make sure TV source for the TV is set to input source from the DVD player (use your TV remote to set input source). You have to set both the Sony and the TV separately. This is the most likely problem / solution. 2) If that doesn't solve your problem - then if you have another TV in the house, you might take it out and plug in the R/Y/G and see if it works (if it does, then it is the TV itself or potentially the Direct TV input). 3) If that doesn't work - then perhaps you have a bad RCA yellow cable (which would be surprising - as they don't typically fail), or a bad Sony system, or the connection of the Yellow cable at the Sony system in not good. In this case - might be good to try to get to back of Sony system and check that the yellow cable is plugged in securely. 4) If pressed for time and can't resolve - could go out and buy a $50 DVD player and plug into TV.
