No cable TV reception

our tv is unable to get cable reception. I have checked the cable hook up with my meter and it is fine, but when I reattach the cable to the Winegard power booster there is nothing. Has anyone ever had the Winegard power booster fail? I have searched for the model used in our trailer, 2015, but apparently it is no longer available. It has only one outlet, and no model number to find anywhere. Got a call into Winegard, waiting for a return call. Any help appreciated, thanks

Is the LED lit when in antenna mode? If not may be a blown fuse.

Mine has an outlet on the front panel for the local TV and one on the rear that feeds the bedroom TV cable.

My question may have confused. The booster needs power to switch from antenna to cable. I was asking about the LED in antenna mode to ensure that it had power. And yes, the button needs to be pushed so that the LED is off to get cable.

the light is lit when the power button is in the "on" mode and the saucer style antennae works, kinda. I removed the wall plate, unhooked the cable labeled for "cable" and ran a piece of coax cable from the outside cable hookup inside where I could test to see if there was any unseen problem with the connections, my meter showed that the hookups appear intact and fine. When I reattach the cable to the winegard plate and check to see if I have a good connection, the meter shows there is nothing, so I am going to assume I have something going on in the Winegard signal amplifier plate.

What kind of meter are you using and how are you determining good or bad?

Are you re-scanning for cable channels when you try to get cable tv?

a multi function meter checking for resistance to determine if there is a good connection. I have a good connection when I check the cable before it is attached to the winegard, no sign of a connection after I attach the cable to the winegard.

So you are shorting the inside end of the cable and seeing a short from the outside and open when connected? If the amplifier has a capacitor on the input, what you are seeing could be normal.

Mine was broken (not that I could easily see that).. I had fought with this from the time I bought it. Finally ordered a new one on eBay and Bam! I could get cable reception. Antenna reception too.

There’s a CG we go to in NEK Vermont that has a funky cable setup that doesn’t work as a direct connection with either Airstreams or our TV in our 2014. The owner gives us an electric eye that plugs into the cable box on the post (yes, an actual plastic cable box plugged into the 20amp and connected with coax to the cable line that comes into the post). The electric eye gets velcroed to the top of the post, and coax from the plastic box to our cable connection on trailer. The TV gets put on channel 3 or 4, and channels get changed by taking the cable remote and pointing it through the window at the electric eye. No setup scanning channels. Most SOB’s can just direct connect the cable and run through the scanning as usual. Again, not sure if an Airstream thing with this cable company or the particular Samsung TV.

actually someone from Winegard contacted me this morning, which really was surprising in and by itself, but after listening to my description, is sending me a new "signal amplifier wall plate" identical to the one in my unit. I must have done a better job explaining my problem and diagnosis than I have on here, and it only took a couple of minutes. Thanks Winegard

You did fine on diagnosis and explaining, I was just trying to understand exactly what you had done. Hope it works for you. Please post your results when you put it in.

similar problem: solution: on side of trailer nearest tv installed a coax input plate (Furrion). Directly opposite, on the inside of the trailer, an input plate. Coax from rv park hookup goes directly to the former and another coax directly from the inside plate to the tv. Should I wish to use our "Tailgaiter", then coax goes from TG directly to out side plate and the inside connection is made to the receiver that comes with the TG. JC did the small job and it has worked perfectly for years. The roof top antenna is still operative by switching the interior coax to the booster plate. We did make an error by having The installation come out under the dinette. you might find a more convenient location.

Hi

What kind of cable system is it?

Your TV is likely an all digital model. There are campgrounds that still are "passing out" analog cable TV.

Also try NoCable.org or the app - it will provide local listings and show the direction of the tower for broadcasting. You can change the zip code for wherever you’re traveling.

Question Front TV versus Rear TV/2019 Flying Cloud

I've seen other discussions about poor performance of 32 inch Samsung Front TV versus Rear Samsung TV.

Front TV with booster ON, brings in about 5-10 Air/DVT Air channels. Front TV with booster OFF, and connected to cable, NO cable channels detected.

Rear TV with booster ON, brings in about 20 Air/DVT Air channels. With booster OFF, TV recognizes 100 plus cable channels.

With all the extensive trouble shooting of members here, I thinking it's the Front TV with the problem.

Can't program cable channels - What am I doing wrong?

1st outing in our new-to-us 2018 Classic. Can't seem to get either Smart TV to locate and load cable channels including use of auto-programming or seeking advice on what I may be missing or doing wrong;

Here's a summary of the conditions and actions taken,

a) We're located at a new RV park in Houston, TX.
b) We're connected via external coax between the RV Park's pedestal and the Cable input on the exterior side (made certain we're not connected to Sat input)
c) RV park and other guest confirm cable is working properly
d) Changed input on both Smart TVs from Air to Cable
e) Turned antenna booster off (green light is off)
f) Auto Programming Runs its cycle but fails to locate any DTV Cable or Cable channels (on either Smart TV), i.e. Broadcasting>Cable>Auto Program
g) Auto Programming runs and completes its cycle finding no DTV or Cable Channels.

Note: previous owner had removed DVD player and used Apple TV but I have no means or idea of know if doing so affected the cabling arrangements that would prohibit the incoming cable signal from reaching each TV.

It sounds like you are doing the right thins but hard to know what the PO did to the cable runs. If you can come up with a piece of coax, try running directly from the cable pedestal box to the TV and see what happens. Although the campground may be fine, it is not uncommon to have a problem at your pedestal. Perhaps your coax from the pedestal is long enough to run through a window, screen removed(unfortunately).
