New weird electrical problem

We have a 2005 CCD with factory installed JVC radio/DVD player and a JVC CD changer. We the 2nd owners. I thought the 'in out both' speaker switch was bad as sometimes we don't get sound. But this weekend we learned something new. When playing CDs with all the internal lights off everything is fine. But with most lights, when turning them on, the CD player instantly stops. Then when the light is turned off, the music comes back on.

Is this a voltage problem? Is the converter not working properly? The batteries are fairly new and we were plugged into shore power at the campground. And we have a surge suppressor that would have shut off the power if the external voltage was too low or high.

The first thing I would look at is the power source for the CD player. Pull it out and put a volt meter aon the power feed to it and watch the voltage as you turn lights on. Some electronic equipment will shut themselves off if the feed voltage drops below 9 volts.

if this is the case find another way to feed the player directly from the fuse panel. Sounds like someone wire the player wrong.
