I thought some of you might like to see my solution for the small screen sizes offered by the factory. So far everything is going according to plan. At some point I would like to add a rooftop dome satellite system but the tripod and portable dish will have to do for now. I did wire the connections from under the table to up by the edge of the TV.
Our Bambi did not come with a TV, but we recently increased to a 23 inch flatscreen, which is much larger than what Airstream is presently putting into the 19' Safari. I thought it might be interesting for people to see the 4 pictures showing our solution to a larger screen. The TV is on a sturdy arm which allows watching from the dinette or the bed. For towing, a cover with a pad at the bottom and anchorage to the cabinet relieves the arm from providing much support. This has worked well over very rough roads.
We have the sat rec. on a piece of plastic with an L shape that lifts it above the ledge in the upper cabinet. We just open the cabinet door to allow the remote to work.
You are correct, on one three day journey it did slide off the end of the bed once. No damage luckily. It is quite heavy and the weight of the set causes the mattress to move around more than the TV. So most of the time the mattress just might be moved forward to the edge of the front wall.
Right now we are using stretch cords and hooking them to the cabinet doors while in motion. Has worked so far. Next step is to attach hooks to the underside of the bed and use bungy cords to limit the movement of the TV and mattress.
We are still very pleased with the setup and find it amusing when people see how large a unit you can have compared to what is offered by the factory.
