External Speaker Jack - 2005 Int'l 25SS
I just picked up a 2005 International 25SS. It evidently has an audio upgrade, with the speaker selector inside showing an "in" "out" and "both" switch. I found the external speaker jack. The jack looks very different to any speaker jack I have seen. Anybody out there have some information for me? Is this something proprietary with Airstream? Thanks.

First, welcome to the Forums.
Loads of great stuff and great people here!
Can you post a shot of the jack? I doubt that it's proprietary to Airstream, as lots of other RV manufacturers use them. I'll check my supplier catalogs to see if I have what you might have, and can suggest a source for the corresponding plug.

Thanks, Lewster. I can't post a pic tonight, but it is round on the outside with four, I think, holes in it under the rubber cap.. It is at the bottom of the trailer just to the rear of the door.

These two pics show the placement and the speaker jack up close. I am really curious about this because it just looks like a trailer wiring harnes, not a speaker jack. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum. very simple, we have the same setup. DO NOT contact your AS dealer they will charge big$$'s. All it is is a simple 4 wire flat connector for trailer lights. Pick one up at Wal*Mart. You will have to carfully cut away a little of the rubber on the ground lead but thats all it is.

Thanks, I would assume then that it's just a matter of running the wires to whatever speakers of my choosing?

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.
We have the same outlet on our 25FB. We got a 4 contact trailer plug for $3, wired up a pair or $10 speakers, and we've got outside sound.

Rick is right. It's a four wire flat trailer plug. My 05 Bambi came with the audio/video upgrade, and speakers were part of the package. I recall being somewhat amused at their selection of plugs. If speakers didn't come with your trailer I would suggest contacting Airstream for a wiring diagram or color coding of the wires. Some stereo systems have a floating ground instead of a common ground.

Hey, you got speakers! We didn't, we had to buy our own outdoor speakers, you lucky!

I contacted A/S and asked them for a wiring diagram for the external speakers. Within a couple of hourse they sent the attached PDF. I hope it helps anyone in need.
Cheers,
Erik

Nice!
Thanks for posting the wiring diagram, Erik. The factory supplied speakers are very nice, but take up a lot of space in the Bambi. I was thinking about wiring some smaller indoor/outdoor speakers to replace them. Your attached diagram will make this little chore much easier.

I've been so confused with this selector switch in my 2008 Classic 25fb that we just purchased. In played rear and bedroom speakers, Out only played the bedroom and Both only played the front bedroom speakers. The download really helped. I'll have to look for the outside plug now not that I will use it. I guess AS still uses this switch even if there is no outside plug?
