Back up camera source

I’m sure this has been covered but not a tech. Savey person. I’m completely rebuilding a 1964. Interior removed. I’ve run conduit from the tongue to the rear. Looking for a back up camera to install around the tag, hard wire it and connect with a newer GMC truck using their display. Is this possible? If so what kind and Maybe a source. Thanks

"connect with a newer GMC truck using their display..."

Maybe a dealer? A GM truck forum?

I just installed a wireless camera on my '78; it takes power off a clearance light, and the display plugs into a lighter outlet.

It is clearly not as elegant as a built in OEM display. :'(

Not recommending any particular brand of camera… But if you choose the same or compatible camera as your tow-vehicle is already equipped…. this may work for you:

I installed two common, 40A automotive relays (little black cubes), both of which are activated by one switch. One relay activates the trailer brakes…while simultaneously the other activates the trailer rear camera.

During trailer hitch-up, I plug in the 7-way and a 4-pole additional trailer plug for the camera. Then when I activate the one switch in the tow vehicle…both the trailer brakes and the trailer rear camera are powered.
