40 inch TV Upgrade

My 2016 FC 27 FB came with two TVs. I removed & sold the smaller TV that was in the bedroom. I removed & transferred to the bedroom the larger TV that was in the main room. I bought:
1. A 40 inch TV.
2. A rotatable TV mount: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
3. A 12 in x 12 in piece of 1/4 in aluminum:
http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant...=76&top_cat=60
I then attached the mount to the aluminum sheet, removed the existing TV mount, and attached the aluminum sheet to the wall more or less where the old mount was attached. I then attached the TV to the new mount & added a nylon strap to hold the TV in place while travelling.

Voila: a larger TV to watch Seahawks football!!!

You now need to rip out the dinette and install home theater seating. I thought I was doing well switching out my Sony 23" LCD to a 28" LED Insignia DVD combo.

Now you need satellite and a 7.1 audio system.

I'm curious, since I'm considering doing something similar, how has it traveled for you this year?

After 30K miles, so far, so good.

Although the Seahawks lost to Atlanta last night.

That's awesome. Great job. My concern would be with how well that wall can support the higher weight of the larger TV. If I understood you correctly you put the aluminum plate between the mount and the wall. I am not sure what the purpose of that is. Maybe you can elaborate? It seems to me the plate would need to go behind the wall where it would work as a giant washer.

Or better, a plate inside and out to spread the load and reduce flex.

Terrific mod! Any update on how it's held up over five years? I'd love to do this in our 27FB, but have to admit that the added weight does make me a little nervous.

Five years later, the 40" TV remains on the wall, no problems --- but the Seahawks have yet to win another Super Bowl, despite Russell Wilson's efforts.

You win some, you lose some. Thank you for the update!

It appears the main obstacle to implementing this excellent mod may now be finding a decent 40" television.

Remember....The larger the screen the further back you need to be for the best picture.

"A general guideline is to sit between 1.5 to 2.5 times the diagonal screen measurement away, with about a 30-degree viewing angle. For example, if you have a 40" TV, you should be sitting somewhere between 5 and 8.3 feet from the screen."

I have been busy the past few years and haven't posted as much as I used to but two years ago I upgraded to a 40" 4K Vizio V series when they still offered that size. It fits nicely above the credenza and locks down when traveling. I added a metal brace to the back of the wall inside the fridge compartment. It angles at the same amount as the credenza when deployed. The TV was only slightly heavier than the 32" I had installed years ago. It is now in the bedroom.

I replaced my 32" Samsung with a 38" Samsung last summer up front, and recently added a Bose Sound Bar II below the tv mounted on the bulkhead.

I took down the rear bedroom TV since we never use it, and it actually was creating extra weight on the cloths closet at the foot of the twin bed, and pulled away from the ceiling. This was an issue with the 2018 and earlier 28' Twin FC models, but AS started installing brace supports under the cabinets in newer models eliminating that issue. Anyway, would love to have a larger 40' but the 38 fits nicely. I did have to modify the original AS wall mount a little along with the plastic/nylon TV mount to connect the cables again. All works fine now, and the Bose sound bar is really nice!

Sounds like a plan.

I put a metal plate behind the bedroom TV just to help the wall stress. I got the Vizio V series sound system to go with the TV from Costco. It makes a huge difference especially when running the AC. The sub I have under the couch armrest and it does a good job. There isn't that much difference between 38" and 40" but I do think it is a perfect size for an Airstream lounge area distance-wise. It is really enjoyable.

I don't use the bedroom tv much either- every great once in a while.

This and several other upgrades have, in their totality, kept me from upgrading the trailer itself. I cannot imagine starting over! Even though the trailer would be new, it would not come with all the mods and better stuff and that says a lot. I like the 26U, 27 and the 28 and also the 30! To me, the 30 has the best seating so I added the Villa seating to mine, I liked the idea that ducted air is quieter but I bought the Micro-Air so the system will run in low and high as needed and cycle like a house AC. It makes it quieter. I like the open lounge area and a larger kitchen but do not want the limiting length for national parks. The bedrooms are about the same---See, it is hard to change!

I get it. Our first 2006, 25' Safari, had the same layout up front as the 28'; a couch and separate dinette in kitchen. The rear 43" wide bed was very tight and the bathroom was very small, otherwise we really liked the layout. We then went to a 2008 25' FC"twin", but little did we know when we purchased it on line, it was originally a queen, modified to a twin...and had several issues. Thats when we got the new 2014 25'FCT model, which I loved the best. No Easystart, but never had an issue with my Champion 3400Dual Fuel, running the AC. The 25' is a great size and I thought we were set...until the wife wanted "more storage", and we saw the 28' FC model, so here we are...

I used to worry about the NP camp spot limitations, when I had my 25's; but even with my 28', I have only had one "25' max" advertised camp spot that was pretty tight...that was last year in Many Glacier,...I was able to get in, but was tight with a big pine tree on the roadside. Have stayed in this campground many times, but that was first with this tight a "V" type parking around the tree...I know most of the time, when they say 25' max, I have not had an issue....guess I may be lucky, but a "old camp ranger" I was talking with once told me, most of those specs were added years ago, with 25" being the standard size even though many are larger...not sure if true or not, but so far, so good!

Whoa...guess i got a bit off topic! Still like the larger TV and new soundbar!
