Stove & furnace for Bambi II
I need to get a stove & furnace for the Bambi II. I can get ahold of both in vintage (from a Caravel) that will fit. Owner says both are in good working order. However, would you go with the big furnace & stove top if you were redoing the whole thing, or would you get a new sleek cooktop that takes up less room & skip the furnace & get the catalytic heater that slaps on the side of the cabinet and have the space in the big cabinet for storage? Don't care if I keep it vintage on the inside, since everything will be new to it!

If I was replacing an old furnace (which I plan on doing this year), it would not be with another old one, Becky. That is an item that has the potential of causing life-endangering problems, and I'm not going to fool around.
Not only can it cause a fire if the combustion chamber leaks, but if the LP gas leaks, it can be a silent killer.
Sorry to sound so morbid, but I don't find anything charming in an old furnace at all...

Good advise, Aage. I think I'll just stick with the new idea.

Becky, with counter space at such a premium in that trailer, I think I'd go with a modern 2 burner cooktop.
I'd also take advantage of the chance to switch to an on-demand fresh water system as well, if yours is still one of the pressurized tank types.

I got the original hot water heater tank out today. What a BEAST! It was huge! I had to pound the top in order to get it out. My sawzall came in handy with that thing. I think I will go with a two burner stove. I've seen some that are pretty compact. I can't ever recall using more than two burners at a time in my big trailer. I'll probably get a 6 gallon tank hot water heater. That's what I have in my Sovereign. The Bambi II probably will only have a 15 gallon grey tank, so what's the use of a huge water heater? The on demands are pretty pricey. I would consider it more for a trailer that we would actually shower in more often (with a larger grey tank). Too bad I can't switch the two out!
