LP Detector on 2020 16RB Caravel

So I have a 2020 16RB Caravel and recently noticed that my LP detector is wired to the main disconnect and does not stay on when disconnected. Also the 1AMP inline fuse is in the main circuit breaker under the bed. Is this normal that the LP only works when the main disconnect is not engaged? Thought the LP was wired direct to a live 12V line and the 1 AMP fuse would be in that wire.

Hi

Does your trailer have a use / store switch *and* a full disconnect switch?

The switch does not enable / disable propane in a trailer. The only way to do that is by turning off the supply with the knob(s) on top of the tank(s). The detector is wired to be enabled when in the "store" setting. The detector is disconnected by the full disconnect (if your trailer came with one).

In our 2019 it was wired direct. If the trailer wasn’t plugged in the battery would be dead in a week or two. I added a separate switch.

I’d say that yours is wired properly.

Thanks.

Thanks all. Makes senses I guess. This came about when installing a GPS and track device btw. Was trying to find a live 12V line and thought that the LP detector would suffice. Would highly recommend. Mine was only $119 for device and 2 yr svc., ($20 for 2 yrs after.) and with my solar doesn't drain the battery. Feel that now days its definitely worth it!
