Hydro Flame

I have 66 hydro flame furnace. Much dust, many cobwebs inside. Would like to use this furnace but only if it is going to be safe. Suggestions welcome.

If it is of unknown provenance the proper procedure is to remove and inspect the burner and heat exchanger. If there are holes it should be scrapped.

Your ultimate safety is not worth the time you will spend trying to restore a 35+ year old furnace. I would scrap it and replace it with a new Suburban unit. I won't even work on any RV furnace older than 15 years due to liability issues.

You could fix it up and sell it on here. Some people dig old junk like that.

I think its cool! want to use it? seems like it is just a burner in a can with no motors
or fans may be very cozy heat? I have lots of time to deside.
FYI my wife is watching this one!!!!

Jeff,

I had one in my 65 Caravel and used it for a couple years. It was rusty but looked to be intact. I didn't run in while sleeping because I was afraid it might kill me. Mine was rusted to the point that you couldn't disassemble all the parts and check for problems. I ended up replacing it with a modern forced air unit. the new one requires 12 volt to run the fan.
