How much A/C do we need?

Hi, brand new to forums. We are renovating a 1991 34' Limited. It will be an Airbnb and will sleep up to 6.

Is one A/C unit sufficient? We have narrowed it down to the RecPro RV 15k Rooftop unit. Good reviews and it's supposed to cool over 800sq. ft. I've read some people putting two units in.... Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I would go with 2 units.

In Nashville? 2 units to ensure your customers' comfort in july and August. If you were setting up north of Central Illinois, one would probably be fine. Shady vs
Sunny spot might move that line a bit.

Totally agree with dznf0g for the reason he indicated.

Need 2 units from mid June through mid September give or take a couple of weeks depending on the weather patterns in any given year.

Agreed, with a 34' in the sun or only partial shade some customers will complain with outside temps over 90f with only 1 AC. The walls have a tenancy to radiate heat so some find it uncomfortable with air in the trailer over 70f.

A 34-ft trailer in Nashville and with 6 people inside will need two a/c units, unless you are placing the trailer in the shade. Even then, on a humid day with 6 people inside you'll wish you had two units to deal with the moisture that those people produce between breathing, showering, and cooking.

If this trailer will be stationary, I would consider other options for air conditioning. There are some split units that may work better than RV A/C units.

If I read your post correctly this unit will be parked and I don't think 15k but is adequate. If your supply amperage is adequate, perhaps you should consider a mini split heat pump 24-36k. I cool my 1800 sq ft. shop in the desert southwest with a Mr. Cool DIY 36k unit that i did install myself for roughly $2700 for the unit from the Webstaurant Store. (best online price I found but Costco sells these units) Unit is much quieter than typical RV AC units and I am very happy with it. My interior air handler is wall mounted which may be a little difficult to make space for, perhaps it could replace an overhead cabinet.
