SO those are good points concerning the value of the multi control. Could one of you explain more about how you use the current limit setting, I've read the manual but it wasn't very helpful?

Set to 30 for normal use. Using the generator set it for your generator limit, say 18 amps for a small one. The AC passthrough is limited to what you set, any other load will be picked up by the inverter.

You can control the Multiplus with the CGGX, which lets you turn it to On (Invert+Charge), Charge Only or Off plus setting the current limit just like the Digital Multi Control.

Note that the Digital Multi Control is more convenient since you don't have to go through any menus to turn the inverter on or off.

One way around the loss of convenience is to install the CCGX then buy a cheap 3 way switch to control the inverter (see Multiplus manual), that saves space and money.

i got the CCGX off ebay new

I have the following victron items

Cyrix- battery isolator
Shunt and BMV712 Btooth monitor
BP-100 battery protect
MPP solar controller 100/30

i did not want to add a separate status/control monitor for each as i only have so much free wall space
