Where did you locate the Remote Pendant? PD4655 upgrade.

I am going to upgrade to the PD4655 soon, I am debating whether to get the Remote Pendant.

My 2 biggest concerns are:

1. Where would I locate it in the trailer without it being in the way?

2. How difficult would it be to get it wired in a that location?

I did do a search of the forum, but didn't have much success.

We have a 27FB.

Any suggestions, ideas or pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Blair

ID:	303116I put mine on the wall right next to the converter/charger panel cover, just to the left, immediately next to the cover. I positioned it so the telephone cord comes out under the panel right in the middle where it's hinged...there was enough room there that the cord isn't pinched.

This location works for me because it's easy to see the status of the blinking light, but also easy enough to bend down to manually override to put in a different mode if desired. My other thought was to put it higher up on a wall somewhere, there is a few feet of cable attached, but that would have meant drilling a hole somewhere, for no added benefit. So I went with "easy."

Meanwhile, here's a thread with some install experiences and photos in case you haven't seen it. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f449...-162905-6.html

I personally saw no reason for it so did not pay extra for one. The features are easily selected at the source if ever needed.

I think having a gadget with a stuck-on photo of papa smurf charging your batteries is kinda cool

I didn’t even know that extension existed.... I always just let the charger do its thing without any intervention on my part....

Thanks for the link and picture. I had seen the thread, but did not go completely through it once I had seen the install pics.

I drilled a hole in the flip-down cover, ran the wire through the hole, and mounted the unit on the cover. No problems so far.

Hi
Total Newbie here. We have a 19’ International and the converter is below the spacious closet. I mounted it right behind the door latch as I thought it’s relatively easy to see and sort of protected by the latch itself.

Mine is a MH setup with solar and inverter, so I grouped everything together on the wall above the dinette where all my gear is mounted below the seat.
It aint sexy, but it works.
Note I put white electrical tape over the LED because it is bright when it blinks in the middle of the night.
I used VHB tape to mount the wizard.

I also did not buy one. There is a button on the converter. Pendent is for those who mount in a spot that is not easy to access.

Likewise

That said, I’m still contemplating creating some form of “sight glass” on the front cover. My thought is to drill a hole in line with the LED on the board and gluing a small magnifying glass into the hole. Unfortunately, the DC fuse diagram on the inside of the cover would be defaced.

I've got the TM2030 mounted in the bedroom closet. Kind of tells me what I need to know, and if it needs a boost, open up the cover and push the obvious button😊

The reason I like the pendant is that I boondock a majority of the time, and when I need to use my generator to charge the batteries, and might have only a couple hours available to run it, I want the charger to be in 14.4v bulk mode. The charger often switches down to less voltage after less than an hour; and sometimes when first starting to charge, takes awhile to enter bulk mode. While I could open the panel to observe the charge status and override it with the interior button, I like being able to see the status without having to open the panel multiple times. It's simply about convenience. As I sit at the dinette working or whatever, I can at a glance see if my charger has left bulk mode, and put it back in bulk mode while the generator is running for a relatively short time, to maximize the charge during that time. I guess I could just leave the upper door open and observe it that way, but the pendand allows me to easily see the light from multiple places and angles in the trailer.

If plugged in to shore power, then of course I don't even pay attention, and indeed do just let the charger 'do its thing.'

After installation I set the pendant where you see it in the picture. I had other plans on where it would be located but this works fine for me.

Nice guys, I never get to see these unless I log on. For what it's worth, many people ask where to mount it and I never have any answer because I can't see what you see except that if you have no place in mind, you can always mount it on the edge of the panel door and I've yet to have anybody tell me you can't close the door on it. It won't pinch the cable. If it does, I'll send you another one and change my recommendation but the panel door does not close that tight. It's nice to be able to glance at the panel and know what mode your converter is in. Some don't care, I get that too.
