What do I wire the 120v side of the converter to?

Our Airstream came with the converter disconnected on the 120v side. The wires run from the inverter at the front of the Airstream, through the frame to the back of the Airstream and then are just capped. Can I just splice it in to the 30amp power at the electrical box between the plug and the panel? The instructions for the Powermax are only a couple pages long and not very helpful.

Thanks!

No.

The feed to the converter must be connected to a overcurrent protection device, either a circuit breaker or a fuse.

The inverter output must be connected to a transfer switch if you are using it to feed the 120v supply. If you connect it to the 30a feed line directly it will blow up.

Converter or Inverter? You said both. I think you didn't mean to say inverter, but not sure.

Converter is a battery charger with extra capacity. It converts 120 VAC to 12 volt DC. The inverter allows you to use the 12 volt power from the battery to invert it to 120 VAC for when you do not have 120VAC available from the campsite. These are two entirely different functions. If you are in a campground with 120 VAC, you will not use your inverter.
