want to order new converter

I have started to order a converter a couple times. Playing a little phone-tag with Best Converter. Thought I should take a moment first, before phoning him back, to understand what I HAVE....

I took a picture of the inside my electrical compartment. I have verified that my old Univolt is g-o-n-e. It was replaced with a battery charger and there is a receptacle box which it can be plugged into. The charger is hard wired to a *spare set* of terminals on the battery (separate from the main pos/neg cables).

Attached is a pic of the fuse panel. I know, it's a mess. Can you tell if this is the original panel? It looks like a panel has been secured to a roughly cut plywood base. I don't have any idea what the original panel looked like ... There is also a box at the wall, inside a bathroom cabinet, with two circuit breakers. It looks pristine.

So, do I need any more info before calling Randy back?

Randy at Best Converter is Great. He will help in all ways possible. But, in these hard times every penny counts....the Ebay sellers from hard hit RV manufacturing areas are selling converters way cheap. But, (again) you probably will have none of the backup Randy will provide.

The converter you have is original.

When you install a new converter, you will have to remove the fuse panel from your present converter, and use it with the new converter.

I bought my Intellipower from Randy... great service! I also bought a stand alone 12v fuse panel from the local autoparts store ... it uses blade type fuses vs. the glass tube fuses. It seemed easier than trying to get the fuseblock off the ol Univolt.

Something like this.. but you don't need such a fancy model.. or.. you could get it also!
12V RV Fuse Box Mine was a bit cheaper.. and plastic, but works fine.

There's no converter in there! The fuse panel is mounted to a piece of plywood that is secured (poorly) to the floor. I pulled out the plywood (w/panel) and there's nothin' behind it. PO verified the Univolt was removed before he purchased the TT. He never worried about the converter - but purchased the battery charger himself ....

FWIW, what you have there is the original fuse panel.

Laura, as others have said, that is the original fuse panel off the OEM Univolt. I just replaced mine with an IOTA 45 IQ4 from Randy. I'll be posting about it in a day or so, as soon as I get the toilet in (hopefully tonight).

Randy is a great guy that stands behind his product and will patiently step you thru any questions you have. Much better service than an RV center that may not be around tomorrow. (McDonough RV has been around forever. They shut thier doors last week. I found out Saturday when I went over there to pick up a few "RV only" parts from them, sad.)
