Waiting on a LI converter

I'm upgrading my 2020 AS Nest to lithium / solar but I need to wait a week or so for my new lithium-charging converter to arrive. I think I know the answer to this but just to be sure, am I okay to install the lithium batteries without updating my converter? I'm not plugged into shore power -- relying on solar to charge the batteries in the meantime. Thanks in advance.
