Vitron 1000 change settings?

Is it possible to change the settings on the Vitron 1000 inverter/charger that comes stock in a new Airstream? That is, if installing two drop-in Lithium Ion batteries can the stock Vitron charge voltage rate be raised from 13.6 to 14.6?

Ditto

I have a 2018 fc and want to drop in two lithium batteries to replace lead acid batteries from factory install. What changes need to be made to the system to allow this to work properly.

It sounds like you have a Victron MultiPlus 1200 / rated at 1000w output continuous.

Yes, you can set the multi voltage for lithium. The easiest way is to use the dip switches per section 5.1 of the manual (link below). You can also use the VEConfigure tool to manipulate the Multi configuration.

You need a new lithium-specific converter/charger if you want to treat your lithiums right.

If I may offer some advice, check the battery box size and the size of the batteries carefully. I tried to install two Battle Born lion in the box on my 2018 GT and two will not fit.

Of course there are other battery suppliers and they may have batteries that will fit but don't assume like I did.

Thanks amigo. Can you tell me where the Vitron inverter/charger is located in the the 23FB is? Is it easy to access for adjusting?

Sorry don't know. Likely behind the power center or under a dinette bench if I have to guess.

I have a 2019 International and two of these fit in the factory box, they also offer this battery with a built in heater for cold temps.

Great news. Thank you. I will check my controller this am and see if I can use it. I would like to extend my Amp Hours beyond the 90 I got with my rig.

Fyi

Turns out that I was misinformed by the dealer (shocked absolutely shocked) in that the 2021 23FB does not come with a Victron charger. It is actually a WFCO Model # WF-8955PEC-J and cannot be altered but rather needs to be replaced with this model for charging Lithiums which require 14.6 volts. My apologies if I have confused anyone by my original post.

I’m not shocked that the dealer is clueless. I was surprised that the claim was airstream put a sophisticate Victron multiplus inverter/charger as standard equipment vs a $100 DC converter.

I’m a Victron fan. That being said I’d recommend you replace the WFCO converter with a progressive dynamics unit calibrated for lithium. Plug and play.

For your system keep it simple and replace the converter. $215 bucks or so plus labor. Done. Lithium’s are charged correctly and you can use your factory inverter to watch TV or what have you when off grid.

Bestconverter.com is your friend.

Thanks. This is the model that WFCO recommended. My trailer system is 30Amp not 50 amp. I noticed that you are recommending a 45amp converter. Which works best?

Thanks again. Two more questions:
I am installing a Zamp 170 watt roof panel that I won't be expanding ever and need to know what size Victron solar charger to install. (Bluetooth model)

And I read somewhere but forgot, where the pre-wire connections are located for mounting the controller inside the trailer. Is it in the bathroom near other monitors there or in the kitchen wall?

Victron 75/15 smart controller is what you want then.

170/13 = ~13amps DC to the batts.

There is a roof mounted 3 port connector for the panel.

Not sure where the inside termination is on the 23 - it’s at the DC bus bar likely but not sure where that is in your trailer - likely under a bench.

Thanks again. I found the +yellow and -green factory-installed solar panel wires that come out directly next the the 12 volt bus bar and inverter. I can see where to connect the two solar wires to the Victron charge controller but am unsure of where to connect the +&- wires coming out from the controller. Where on the bus bar should the + connect? And then where to connect the - wire? Somewhere on the negative bus bar?
