Trouble with converter wiring

Does anyone have experience with the Progressive dynamics converter? I have not hooked it up to 110 yet, but I can't get the 12 V to work. The issue is the ground. If I hook the negative to the ground bar everything works, but if I hook it up according the the diagram there is nothing connecting the negative of the battery to the 12V system. The only thing connecting the power control to the ground bar is the converter, which would not ground it normally. What am I missing? I've already seen that the manual is somewhat lacking in detail, as they did not mention the connection from the branch breaker to the AC connection to the converter. There is no continuity between the negative post and the bar.
