Surge portector needed?

Just installed a new Progressive Dynamics 9245 in my 69' AS. The original Phillips PC-301-A1 was input 4.65 amp w/ out put 12.7 V DC and 30 APS
the only thing direct AC is my 13,000 BTU Air conditioner and wall plugs the rest goes through converter. Do we really need a surge protector, won't the converter handle the same thing? Except for a/c unit. If you think protector is needed would an EMS be the way to go?

Depends on what you want to protect

I bought a "surge protector" which plugs into receptacles. Plugged microwave and converter in using them.

The whole system units are better as they protect all circuits simultaneously. Additionally, you can have a system which checks for low/over voltage and miswired, and delay restarts for electrical following an "outage". This can protect your AC unit.

Hope this helps.

My Surge Protector (Progressive Industries) detected a reverse polarity (In a State Campground of all places),,, It is worth the investment in my opinion.. Countrysong..
