Source/advice for Battery cables/connectors

I’m replacing my nonexistent 12v battery with 2x6v Lifeline AGMs. Looking for a advice & source for cables. Batteries, converter/charger all going under the rear twin.

A good source for custom cables is either a marine yard or a tractor/farm equipment dealer.

There is a wide variety of battery cable assemblies available on Amazon. I use Marine grade cables with 3/8 inch ring terminals in red and black as applicable. Lengths go from 12 inches to multiple feet. The terminals are sealed with adhesive lined shrink tubing to prevent corrosion.

The best for cables is Genuine Dealz in Georgia. Real fast turn around, quality work. I use garden hose to find the length through the routing. http://www.genuinedealz.com/custom-c...cable-assembly

Also Bay Marine Supply in California.

UL-Listed products

Recommend using cable and lugs that meet or exceed UL 1426, rather than cheap welding cable. This normally means using marine-grade products, such as Ancor cable assemblies. I order custom length Ancor cables with lugs from PKYS.

For short runs (less than 3’), do these need to 2, 4 or 6 AWG cables?

Source/advice for Battery cables/connectors

Cable size depends on how many amps you need to draw through them and the length. Look for an “ampacity table” to get a feel for minimum size needed for a given run, and go the next size up or so.

I’m planning a small inverter, so my Airstream OEM cheap 10 gauge exterior battery wiring is going up to 4 gauge marine wire assemblies in this upgrade.

I also had a boiling battery issue that spewed acid all over the factory wiring, and the wire and lugs did not fare well. Time to replace and upgrade with better materials.

Add this source to the list of recommended cable suppliers:
https://www.acdcwireandsupply.com/Default.asp

I received my order of seventeen 4/0 cable assemblies from them yesterday and I'm very impressed with the quality and construction. Also, the order processing and delivery speed was very fast. I placed the order Friday morning and it arrived the following Thursday, from their place in Michigan to my address in California.

Bonus:
The prices were substantially less than the other suppliers mentioned above that I checked for the same spec cables.

I’m glad I opened the box of my PD9260 converter that I purchased last year but had not installed...didn’t realize that it didn’t include cables.
