Right, the campground socket. Just make sure it's not damaged or loose, and that the voltage isn't too low.

I have a 50A trailer. Is there any danger using a y connector, 2-30A to 50A when the electric connection at the park has 2 30A outlets? I assume the Y connector enables you to have 50A service, but I am new to this.

As you have not picked up your new AS yet, check with your salesman to see if you have 30 or 50amp connections. If you have a 30 amp system, your trailer will have one a/c on the roof, and an additional connection at the front of tje trailer to connect a generator. The generator connection is only used when you are camping without ac power, and is only found on 30 amp trailers.
If your trailer has two a/c’s on the roof, you will have a 50 amp system. It takes more power to run both a/c’s , so that is why you need the higher capacity 50 amp service.
30 and 50 amp systems have different plugs. A 30 does not fit into a 50amp receptacle and vice versa. There are adapter plugs, generally used when you have a 50 amp trailer and the campsite only has a 30 amp plug. If connected to a30amp campsite, you do not have enough capacity to run both a/c’s.
Hope this helps.

I understand the 30 vs 50, but have seen an adapter with 2 30 male connectors on one end with a 50 female on the other end. If the electric box has 2 30A outlets, can this adapter be used to have 50A service? Hopefully I worded it correctly this time.

30A service is one phase on 110V
50A service has two phases of 110V- like most homes
YEs, you can get an adapter that will use one of the two phases
look for one that has
50A male and a 30 A female ends

This power input is controlled by an automatic transfer switch. I use it instead of the one on the side of the trailer if it is more convenient to the power pedestal.

This should be your first purchase, $3 at WalMart. This device is a quick way to detect a hot neutral swap/ hot shell condition.... This will save your life!
Google Airstream hot shell and see what that means.

Since the two hot lines are independent of each other, it should work. If you draw more that 30 amps on either line you might trip that breaker on the pedestal.

We love our EMS, think it's the same model.
Has saved us from bad voltage, reverse polarity, ungrounded wires, in the last two years of travel.
The campground offices usually try to argue with me about it -- other people have used it; they didn't have any problem. At a KOA they tried that; I told them to find me another site. They didn't have one, and I pointed out that our EMS would not let their power through to our trailer -- so they came and fixed it. It was funny: a professional electrician on vacation didn't touch a thing, but stood and talked the KOA employee through the rewiring process.
Also when I had a question of EMS early on, I phone them, got an employee on about the second ring who told me what I needed to know.
Like they say, they're expensive ($300 or so) but what's the cost of rewiring your trailer?
