Parallax Temp Compensation

I spoke with an engineer at Parallax. Figured why not call them since Airstream uses them as a supplier.

He said that their Temperature Compensation upgrade. $58.00. If you install this unit it will allow the converter to supply 14.4 volts for 4 hours. Every time you plug into shore power will create and event that will boost the battery charger process for 4 hours. He suggested that will greatly increase how much charge you will have on the batteries during a charging cycle.

He suggested that once batteries are fully charged you should place the battery switch to store mode. This will eliminate any over charging of the batteries and reduce the risk of "boiling off the water in the batteries"

The unit has a cable that connects in the controller and a 2nd cable that has to be run to the battery box and attached to the negative terminal of the battery.

I am thinking this might be a cost effective reliable way to get the batteries charged faster after a deep discharge event.

Anybody out there with experience with I the 4400 TAU unit??

Thumbs up

IMHO......another option would be a better converter.

Good Luck

Just installed the temp 4400 unit on my 2016 FC, so far it is working great in the driveway. I will be taking her out in January, will find out how it works in the wild.
The install was easy with one hitch. When I am at a desktop and not my phone will give a better answer.

Please do. I’m interested in this option. Did you buy it from Parallax?

Found it in a clearance bin at an RV dealership, knew what it was because I was thinking about buying one. Check Amazon. Hopefully I will be on my home computer tonight. I took some photos as I installed it.
