Original charger

We have a 2015 22FB. I know very little about converters. The converter is a WF-8955PEC. It's specifications state that has 3 charging rates. Bulk 14.4 Vdc, Absorption 13.6 Vdc and Float 13.2 Vdc. No temperature compensation. I have looked at other makes and there charging rates are similar. I have seen many comments about the factory converters are not so good. What is the difference?

Actually, for some reason, AS puts an acceptable charger/converter in the 22 Sport and only that model of trailer. The WFCo 8955 is one that Randy at best Converter sells as a plug and play replacement for the AS OEM. You are good to go, no change needed.

Not quite, lol. We send hundreds of replements out every month for these. The 8955 will usually last through the warranty period but they struggle to go into the bulk mode in all of our testing and others from the field.
There are many threads on this out there. If it were mine, I'd use the PD 4655 MBA. There isn't anything better in my opinion and they are specifically designed for the 8955 WFCO. American made too if you're into that.

Hmm, when I bought my 8955 from you, that was the replacement for the stock single stage charger/converter. That was in 2013. I do not doubt that the PD is a better unit, but are you telling me the 8955 you sold me is junk?
Doesn't matter today, for me, I am now upgraded to a Victron inverter/charger and no converter.

Can I ask why you upgraded from what was said to be an upgrade itself? I ask because I have what I think is original equipment Power Sourse PS 50 in our trailer and while knowing it needs to be replaced I would like to do it one time if possible, at least in the near future. Thanks

I did my upgrade as a part of installing lithium batteries and more solar. I needed a charger that could be customized to lithiums and the inverter section is good for 2400 watts, not the 600 that came with my trailer.
