Hi Everyone,

I have a 2006 nineteen foot Bambie Safarie. Ever since we bought our Bambie I've heard a fan sound that seemes to be coming from the area where the fuses are located. I've looked and I can't find anything that is loose or a fan. I'm woundering if anyone can tell me what this might be and if it is normal. The sound cycles on and off.

It's probably the fan in the converter. As it converts A/C power to D/C, it builds up heat. The more power you use, the more heat it creates. The fan just cools it down from time to time. No big deal.

There was a thread a while back about replacing factory converters with a more sophisticated model. I can't remember, but the suggested upgrade unit might have had quieter fans, in addition to better electrical performance.

It's the cooling fan for the convertor (110AC to 12DC). Ours is under the bed behind the fuse box. It runs intermitently. Nothing to worry about. If you don't ever here it running, then worry.

Hi, Flyguy -

Locate your converter and put your ear next to it when the fan goes on, and you'll hear just what these guys were saying.

By the way, how's the fishing in your part of the world?

My wife and I leave next week for 4 months in Montana. You don't have to guess what I'll be doing every day.

Flyguy, Flyfisher- My wife Sam is a flyfishing guide here in NY and one of the main purposes for our Safari is her annual trip to Montana. I guess there'll be a lot of silver out there .....

When you are plugged into shore power, it'll still come on - more frequently when you are using your lights since they are 12 volt. The fridge is 12 volt but doesn't draw too much so it won't come on that much if you aren't using the lights. We put our shoes by the exhaust vent for ours and it warms them up!
