Neg. Batt. Fuse location?

Shouldnt there be a fuse betw. the neg. batt terminal and the connection pt in the old uni distribution panel?--say a 40 or 50 amp fuse?

I dont think my 71 safari has one.

Im trying to get her up and running with a new zantrex 60 [from randy] and am using the front half of the old univolt for the distribution panel---thanx--jim

I see #3 in the pic but its not on the panel?

I don't see why the negative side would be fused.

Unless it has been removed, it should be mounted on the interior skin, along the floor, close to the battery and Univolt. You should be able to find it by following the wires going from the Univolt to the battery.

Can I get some more fuse info: I'm starting on my 12v wiring in my Tradewind, and plan to use a Xantrex 60 converter. I picked up a fuse panel today (Parallax FB12). Their literature shows a fuse between the battery positive terminal and the converter's positive input ("within 18 inches of battery"), but none on the negative side of the battery. Is this an either/or situation in which having a fuse on either side of the battery will suffice, or are you folks suggesting fusing both sides of the circuit? Either solution would be easy. Finally, are appropriate fuses readily available at an auto parts store? Hoping to avoid shocks, smoke, and meltdowns -
Mark

Ricky- thanx for the link-Im a believer in a fused ground now.

Terry-thanx- I never thought of looking on the inside wall for it-I'll take a look

Looks like both sides are fused and if I cant find a fuse [ for the neg side] on the interior skin-Im putting one in--

a 40 amp blade ok?

one more question--on the zantrex there are two posts, Im assuming for ground connections- do I just connect them to the interior skin?--Randy?

thankyou all !-----------jim
