Mix lead acid batteries and LiFe batteries. Possible?

Is it possible to add LiFe batteries interior to AS and still keep Lead acid batteries in exterior compartments

No. That is not possible/good idea. They charge properly at different voltages. The lithiums will also rob all the energy out of your LA batteries as they have very low internal resistance.

NO! The nominal voltage of the two battery types are not the same nor are their charging profiles/needs

Yes! I did it!

Well, kinda [emoji4]

I added lithium under the rear bed in my 30’ (about 275lbs of gear total) and left the lead acid batteries in the tongue-mounted battery compartment..... fully disconnected.... for ballast / tongue weight purposes [emoji4]

After 3 years sitting there I think they register a healthy 4 or 5 volts or something like that haha.

The one way you could do it is by keeping them electrically separated from each other. Separate chargers, powering separate loads and have NO means to interconnect them, ever. That would really complicate the electrical system in your trailer, so the question is why go to all that trouble? If you really NEED the added capacity, just add one more Li battery to your upgrade.

I just upgraded to LFP batteries and simply sold off the 3-year old lead-acid ones on Craigslist. There's a buyer for almost anything out there. I even sold a used marine toilet one time... so many responses, I could have sold a dozen of them.
