Inverter Won’t Turn On at “remote” in galley

Our International 27FB is plugged in to shore power (in our side yard) between trips and I turn off the inverter during these periods. We are on a short trip now and the inverter will not turn on at the remote controller located in the galley. Checked the circuit breaker, and it hasn’t tripped. Rest the GFIC sourced by the inverter when off shore power. No change.

Jkinder, there is a fuse on the inverter you might want to check.

This is from the WFCO manual from our 2019 Globetrotter:
AC Output Fuse:
Fuse Information:
Manufacturer: LITTELFUSE INC
Model Number: KLDR15
Fuse Size: 10.3*38.1mm, Rating: 15A/600VAC

The fuse is located on the front of the unit. Ours was located under the curb side twin bed (head end).

Good luck!

Even though our trailer is a year old, we have a long and tortuous history with the inverter remote. Does the display turn on? If not, we're on our third display and second cable. I'll spare you the details but here's some things to try (I consider myself a very reluctant expert):
  1. Unscrew the remote panel and fiddle with the cable. Take it out and plug it back in, wiggle it from side to side, and try pulling the cable from side to side. This has worked for us on a couple of occasions. I'm not sure what the deal is, but maybe the connection gets corroded or something or it's not a great fit with the connector.
  2. If yours is a Progressive Dynamics, after taking off the covering panel, push the on/off button and make sure it works. If not, then as @Jeff above suggests there is a fuse to check. See if there's an error code. If there's a problem with the inverter, PD customer service is really good.
  3. Check that the remote cable hasn't worked itself loose and wiggle it around while you're there.
  4. If it does come on and nothing else has worked. It could be the display panel and you have to get a new one and try it out. We had a problem with the cable itself and Jackson Center had to replace it. As a workaround you can make up a cable* and plug it into the inverter and run the wire somewhere outside the access panel and plug it into the remote removed from the wall (be careful and don't drop its cable down the wall). Ours is under a mattress and that saved us the trouble of lifting up the mattress and the panel to get to the inverter to turn it on.

*This isn't difficult but requires a crimping tool, I can provide instructions if needed.

It Works Now

Tried both recommendations (thanks Jeff(s)). Still not working. Looked up the remote on the manufacturer’s site and read the instructions. Turns out I was pressing the “on/off” button too long and it likely cycled from on back to off without me realizing it.

When I pressed for a second (or less). It came on!

Thanks forum for the responses, and both were valuable.

Sometimes you have to find the manual and read it…

Ah! Forgot about that. I have a spouse who coaches me on how long to push the button.
