Inverter Education

Looking at purchasing a 2012 23D. The paperwork indicates it has a 600w inverter system ( along with a 110v/12v power center w/ 55 amp converter). Am I correct that the inverter is what would allow me to run accessory appliances, the TV and A/C when not hooked to shore power or a generator?

The inverter supplies power only to the blu-ray player receptacle, the main tv area receptacle, and a receptacle in the dinette area.

You CAN operate heavy draw AC appliances like a microwave or a roof A/C from a battery/ inverter combination, but you need the correct components.

You definitely CAN NOT operate much from a 600 watt inverter and basic 160 amp/hour battery bank.

To accomplish the above, you need a minimum of a 1600 watt unit ( Victron 12/2000 Multiplus) for a microwave or a larger 12/3000 Multiplus; Magnum MS-2812 or MSH-3012M hybrid for A/C operation. With any of these devises, you also get a fully programmable charging section with temperature compensation for perfect battery charging

These should be coupled with an appropriately sized battery bank to handle the loads and anticipated run times.

Our past two trailers had and have multiple outlets marked by Airstream in blue as to being inverter outlets. But, when used the inverter itself sucks the life right out of batteries, so you will need solar to keep them charged or don't plan on using the outlet for long. At least that is the way our past and present Airstream work.

Thanks for the responses. Electrical is not a strong suit....I only know I don't have the inverter on the current unit. Much obliged!
