Hi

Simple answer - none.

Inverter = turns battery voltage into 120V

Converter = turns 120V into battery voltage.

Even if this is a converter question - don't bother to go for the original part. The modern ones are way better than something from that era.

Converter

You are right it is a converter not an Inverter. I had the terminology wrong.
So can I find one off the shelf somewhere like a Home Depot store etc.?

Nope. RV shop or online.

Hi

You can indeed find cheap converters off the shelf here and there (... but not at Home Depot). A good converter is still a < $200 sort of thing. A cheap one can destroy batteries and other bits and pieces in your trailer. Do you *really* want to go cheap? Indeed, even a good one can fail, but that's another story ....

Get a brand name from somebody you can actually talk to on the phone. That way when you have questions about how to hook this or that up, you can get the right answer quickly. Yes, you will pay a premium over the cheapest thing listed on Amazon .... it's worth it in this case.

You can buy one off the shelf at an RV store. But, whatever store you go into will try to sell "whatever they have" as the "best one for you", even though what they have is not necessarily correct or best.

That's why you have received two suggestions to contact Best Converter.
Randy, from Best Converter is a member of this forum.
If you contact him or his company you will get good advice, a converter that will work, instructions for the install, and support during the install if you have questions. And, probably save some $ also.
