Interesting charging issue: Battleborn and PD4655

So here is the set up:

2 x 100Ah Battleborn batteries
PD4655 Li Converter charger
Victron 702 battery monitor.

Today I noticed the converter clicking on and off, so I looked the Victron app and sure enough, there is a weird charging behavior. The voltage is only 13.2V or so and it is cycling every 30s or so. This is happening regardless of which of the two 30amp connection I use and regardless if on shore power (20A service as I can't reach my 30amp right now) at the house or on the 3100W champion generator. So the transfer switch is probably fine.

All interior systems 110v/12v are working fine.

My suspicion is the converter is failing. I have the older PD4655 I just pulled out of the garage, but before I switch it out I thought I would post here in case anyone had any thoughts.

Could the BMS on the 2 battleborns be playing silly games????

A little update.

I set up my old PD4655 (non Li version). The behavior is the same.

I hit the wizard button to push 14.4V out of the converter but the BMS did not ever go that high.

I disconnected the batteries (from a switch i installed) and now the converter is behaving.

Current suspicions are the solar charger and the converter charger and not playing nice together in sunlight.

Next test is to disconnect the solar via the breaker I have inline and turn the batteries back on to see what they do.

A little adventure...

So I turned the solar off and the batteries back on.

No change, same cycling. You can see the converter/charger was outputting close to 14.4 at the start and at the end to it is doing its part.

For now I am just leaving the batteries disconnected while on shore power.

As soon as I can get the graph off my phone I will post it.

Thanks, that could be a future upgrade for me. Right now I am trying to understand this new behavior from my current system.

I have emailed battleborn too.

This got resolved so I wanted to report back. The auto resetting breaker on the positive buss was the issue, $7 to replace and all is good again.

What finally pointed you to the breaker? Was the an audible clicking as it cycled?

Glad it was a $7 fix.
