Running AC on batteries??

Were you suggesting you are running AC off five batteries when needed for a seven day period?

No, we generally don't camp when or where its hot so we don't use AC very much at all. Also, I did not upgrade the 1000 watt inverter.

We had our Honda 2000 with us, but it was not needed (or allowed).
Most national park campgrounds specify no engine idling in the no generator sections, but it is a bit inconsistent and enforcement can be lacking.

I agree, the non generator section in Big Bend is sooo much nicer. Last year, we also did fine with 2 BB's and 120 watt suitcase.

Welcome!

Does anybody know how to find campgrounds that do not allow generators? It has become the most annoying thing... The second most annoying being the children who are allowed to run through your pitches.

In NYS park campgrounds generator use is limited to 2 hours in the AM and 2 hours in evening, also it can be prohibited if it’s deemed to loud. That’s what I like about the Airstream, weather permitting, close the door and sound is left outside.

This solution is light, no heavy generator and fuel to carry and is very quiet. I am thinking for basic off grid needs this is great. What am I missing?

LNB is correct, in my opinion, the primary reason for using a generator is to operate an AC unit. Typical alternator in your stock truck at idle will only push around 1000 watts using the CarGenerator. The AC unit will require more power than a typical CarGenerator can provide.

A side note; your truck operating with a CarGenerator will consume almost 10 times more fuel per hour than a 1000 watt Yamaha generator..

That is above professional grade! Super well done. I am sure that is far above what most dealers would do.
