Converter in 50amp 2019 27fb

Hi all,

(I'm new here and this is my first post, but I've used this forum a lot!)

I'm trying to find the 120AC/12DC converter in my Globetrotter. With the 50amp service came a manual for a WFCO Ultra III Deckmount Converter WF-9800 Series. The manual says the model number is on the cover of the unit, but I can't find the unit!

Any ideas where it is?

On my 2019 International FBQ the converter is behind the fuse panel. Which is just forward of the stove by the pantry.

In my 2918 GT the converter will be behind the panel located between the fuse panel and the left panel beneath the wardrobe closet that contains the furnace vent. It is usually just thrown on the floor loose among the rats nest of wires back there. It is plugged into the back of the main fuse panel below the refrigerator with a standard 3-prong plug.

It is very hard to get to and reach. I could only take a picture of it by holding my IPhone inside that compartment and taking a blind picture.

I eventually replaced it with a boondocker 60 amp converter and had it relocated for actual access to it.

Thanks Guys, that gave me a few more places to check.

My fuse box is under the Fridge and the inverter is under the queen bed.

Using your phone trick I scanned behind the fuse panel from the vent access door (under the wardrobe closet). Couldn't find anything. Seems to be full with the wheel well and heater vent hoses.

Under the bed was the inverter and a large grey box next to the exterior hatch with a large red 'caution' sticker. I'm assuming that hide some wiring bus or something.

Perhaps its under the oven. Still searching .......

attached are my pictures of converter. I have a 2018 FB Twin and a friend of mine has a 2019 FB Queen Globetrotter. The converters are both in this location. It is probably tucked back a little further but is should be there. It can't be far from the power panel as it is plugged into the back of it.

If all you need is the model #, just call Airstream in Jackson, OH and they can give it to you. Also, when I replaced mine, I kept the original as a spare. PM me and I will get the model # for you (assuming they did not change them from ‘18 to ‘19.

Thanks GOUSC!

That's really helpful. Seems I didn't contort my arm enough to find it back there.

Right now I'm planning my conversion to lithium. I've read a lot of the messages here and found there's no one right method.
I'm assuming the stock converter in the 2019 didn't have the lithium setting, but as I bought mine used I didn't know if it got upgraded (the previous owner has some things added, but didn't understand the particulars).

Steve, welcome to the Airstream Community and Forums!

Just to supplement the great info so far, I found ours by opening the access doors under the wardrobe and looking to the left. The converter was standing vertical in the space next to the electrical distribution / breaker panel. It wasn’t secured so you could grab the wires and lift it out. Others have reported finding theirs underneath the fridge on top of the wheel housing.

You can make out the model number “WF-9855” in the photo.

Good luck with your search!

-Jeff

Hi

Pretty much none of the "low cost" converters are a good idea with lithium batteries. Given the cost of two to four lithium batteries, the cost of a better converter is getting into roundoff error on the bill ....

hahaha - good point! Those batteries do add up fast. I'm thinking 400Ah. (I use a CPAP and don't want to think about power for a few days of boondocking.)

I'm hoping there's easy access to shore 120AC at the front of the trailer. Then I can just remove to old converter and install everything under the bed. That's the goal anyway.
