Converter/battery charger

While the sight was down this weekend, for nothing better to do , I went out to winterize our argosy and take care of the few problems i found while camping this past weekend.
The one problem was the battery would not charge up and stay up on shore power. Checked it with a voltmeter and was only getting 12.5 volts 11.4 volts with lights on.
It's a Triad-Utrad 440-6 40 amp converter charger. So i hit the internet and finally found some imformation and service bulletins on the unit. It turns out that a ground wire from the negative side of the battery and the converter was never attached to the frame of the trailer.
I wonder how long the PO had that problem with the battery?
I found 23 other things i need to fix before i stopped counting, our winters are just so long.
