sounds like the dealer took care of you as they should. The batteries were quite old when you bought the unit. I bet they were left uncharged for long periods and before you came to pick up unit they put on a charger, or if it was plugged in the whole time the single stage charger overcharge them and boiled the water out creating TOAST.
