Changing original batteries to lightweight batteries?

Yes I am sure there is a post on this, but scouring thru without matching search terms is not easy.

I just simply want to change the original cheap heavy batteries out for lightweight batteries to save some tongue weight. I will rarely if ever need the batteries except for maybe to keep the frig running while the trailer is temporarily unhitched from my Powerboost truck or the campground power.

I will assume I need lithium and some sort of heated model battery?

Thanks

Yes there are many, here is one.

I don't see an advantage for the heated version of lithium batteries, if there is one it's pretty small in an AS application.

POI...we have 360w of Zamp portable, two BB 100ah unheated batts, Boondocker lithium converter, charging thru the 7pin umbilical. KISS

Hi

I agree that heated is not that big a deal unless you routinely camp out in areas that stay below freezing all day / for many days.

How long do you want to keep the fridge running? How much does your fridge pull?

Some have reported 3 A average drains on the new compressor fridges. That would get you up to 72AH a day. This is a significant issue for your lead acid batteries. It would be a challenge for a single 100AH lithium.

If you go cheap, a single Lithium is about $500 these days.

If you do not need that much battery and just want to save weight, have you considered going with just a single battery lead-acid battery? You will save yourself about 60lbs. Or a single lithium, which will give me more AH than you have now with 2 lead acids, and save 90lbs.

Yes it is strictly about weight, as I will never boondock. I have a Ford Powerboost with 7.2kw onboard power supply, so yes maybe one battery is the best, or one lithium to save even more weight. These Airstreams are definitely tongue heavy compared to others.

I purchased Lion Safari batteries on sale @ Costco and couldn't be happier.
