Boondocker 1260 Converter Humming Noise

I recently installed the Boondocker 1260 converter in our 2016 27'FB trailer. There were no instructions included with my unit, but I used a video link which really helped with the installation. I followed the steps outlined in the video to the letter, but after powering up the converter we found it makes a loud, humming noise that cycles on and off (maybe the fan?). Our previous unit was absolutely quite, and this noise is really annoying. The humming is loud enough to be heard over the TV or radio. In an effort to troubleshoot the issue, I painstakingly took everything apart to make sure nothing was vibrating. As I said, I had installed it exactly as instructed and found that everything was tight and well anchored. I sent an email to "Randy" (the dealer I bought it from and who everyone says is very helpful), thinking that perhaps he would have a suggestion for me. Crickets -- no reply, no response. So, failing that, I thought I would reach out to others on this forum. Have any of you experienced this type of converter humming and, if so, have you figured out a way to mitigate the sound? Thank you so much!

The fan on mine is also audible. I installed the boondocker the day I took possession of my trailer, so I have nothing to compare the sound to. I agree, it is a little annoying. I will be interested what Randy says if he gets back to you.

I sent an email to "Randy" the other day, asking for a recommendation on replacement of my converter, which appears to be dead.

I've not heard back. Hope to hear from him soon.

It appears to be a small shop — there may not be a Randy II —*and maybe he's on vacation.

Good luck I’ve been waiting for a call back since last Fall. Also the 1260 I received didn’t look anything like the picture on his website.

My Boondocker has now turned into a Boondoogle; still no response or resolution to my issue. I also recently learned that there is an adjustment screw on the side of the exterior metal box to apparently "fine tune" the unit to one's particular battery type -- or something to that affect. Of course, there were no instructions that came with my converter so how would I know what it's actually for, or how to correctly set it up. Also, once it's installed there is no way to access the port to make any adjustments without tearing everything apart. I just hope it was set correctly at the "factory." How can something be fabricated and sold without instructions . . . and with no response from the dealer once the unit is purchased???

I bought a Boondocker BD 1260HW that failed under warranty a month ago, I almost gave up trying to get a response from them, left multiple phones messages, filled the online form and sent emails, it took about three weeks to hear back from Randy that gave me the contact of a person that would take care of the warranty, last week i received a new unit.

I would keep trying if I was you.

Edit. I'm not sure if this will help you but back in April 2019 I asked him what should the output voltage be when the 1260HWL is not connected to the batteries and loads? His response was "Between 13.2 and 13.6"
