best Univolt replacement?

The univolt was cooked on our 66 Overlander I am redoing. I found a 35A WFCO 3 stage converter for $180. I have looked at InteliPower and Iota units as well, but they are pushing $300 if they have 4 stage charging. Are there any other converters I should consider?

The other part I am wondering about, is that I doubt if we will be camping much at all without a 110 volt hook up. Is there a simpler/less expensive alternative?

That price is high, and I have an older 45A WFCO that offers the added "benefit" of variable output, even when the demand isn't varying, so the lights get bright and dim over time.

bestconverter.com (a commercial member of these boards) has a number of options for significantly less than that.

The Progressive Dynamics 9200 series has been highly recommended to me by several members here. Available from BestConverter - Converters, Inverters, Electrical Supplies, Electronics

We used a Progressive Dynamics PD9245 45 Amp Converter Intellipower in both our '56 Safari and our '64 GlobeTrotter (since sold). Works great.

I just purchased a Progressive Dynamics 4060: 60 Amp Converter + AC/DC Distribution Panel for my Serro Scotty. I don't need 60 amps - but I like the compact size of the all-in-one unit, it looks great and I think in the long run ends up more ecnomical because you don't have to get the fuse box, distribution panel & other parts separately like you do with the one we used in the Safari & GT.
