Battery quick disconnects best one to get
I have my airstream in indoor storage and plan on taking in out and about at least once a month. I don't want to take the batteries out so would like to get a quick disconnect switch installed. It has to be easy to use and hopefully something my son can install. He works on his own cars so should be up to the challenge. I am looking for suggestions on the best one to use. I like the look of the ones that have a turn dial. Thanks!!

Battery disconnect
Which perko do you get. The one for 2 batteries or the one that just turns off and on?

I saw this one at Harbor Freight, and it looked fine:
Heavy Duty Battery Cutoff Switch
Price is right, anyway!

Either can be wired to do what you want. I happened to use the two battery one so I could disconnect my inverter separately from the remainder of the system.

Why not use the Battery Switch that comes with your 23' International? In the "Store" position isn't the battery box disconnected from the trailer? (Or is the propane sniffer still activated?!?)

I installed this Perko model PERKO Inc. - Catalog - Battery Switches - Medium Duty Battery Selector Switch [8501]
I like the ability to switch to one battery, in case I want to take one out of service.
The Store switch doesn't eliminate all loads, at least the propane detector is still on. I found my power draw still big enough to kill the battery in a few weeks.

Even when you use the store switch there are a few things propane detector, co detector that stay on and seem to drain the battery. I am not an expert but I have heard that disconnecting the batteries for short term storage may solve this problem.

I got this Amazon.com: Battery Terminal Master Disconnect With Green Knob 12V Or 24V Car Truck Boat: Automotive
Sweet and simple, cheap and does the job. I like it and in a way I find it a minor theft deterrent as the electric jack won't work when it's in use.

If one uses the battery disconnect will the solar panels continue to keep the batteries charged up? Or if plugged in will the batteries maintain their charge? Not good to let batteries discharge.
