Howdy,
During the restoration of my '63 Flying Cloud, a guy who was "helping" me strip 4 layers of old paint disconnected the 3 way toggle switch near the kitchen exhaust fan that switches between Battery Power, Center Position (No Power to the circuit?) and City Power.
Here's my dilemma:
The guy went AWOL
There are 6 screws on the back of this 3 way toggle switch. From what I can see there were 6 wires originally hooked up.
- 2 (blue) wires that went to the exhaust fan (does polarity matter?)
- 1 (green) ground wire attached to the aluminum panel
- 2 (red) wires from a 19V transformer (does polarity matter?)
- 1 wire from a large orange (DC?) line
My question in addition to the bold polarity questions above is
does anyone know which wires go to which screws?
To hopefully help move things along let's just assume the following
SCREW1-SCREW2 (CITY POWER)
SCREW3-SCREW4 (CENTER POSITION)
SCREW5-SCREW6 (BATTERY POWER)
If it's easy for anyone to take a look in a early 60's Airstream with a similar setup I'd really appreciate it, just trying to get out on the road ASAP. I'll make sure to send you good karma
I've been told that I should consider installing a battery charger but for now I just want to restore original functionality.
I hope once I get all this "Airstream" stuff figured out I can reciprocate the knowledge to future airstreamers.
Big Thanks!
