Battery connection to AS

I have two AGM 12 V batteries and understand how to connect them in parallel (+ to + and - to -). My question - is it important to connect the positive red cables from the camper to one battery and the black cables from the camper to the 2nd battery? Or is it the same effect to connect all of the cables from the camper to one battery? Or does it make any difference which battery cables are connected to as long as red is to positive and black to negative. (There are several black and red cables coming from the camper.)

All of the cables are currently connected to one battery and everything works fine but it would seem that this arrangement would cause the two batteries to drain unevenly. Thank you.

It is best if you connect your trailer as you have described, positive of one battery and negative of the other. I think this allows for balanced charging and discharging of the batteries and that is how all factory installations of 2 batteries are done, whether they are 6v or 12v.

The several cables that you are seeing are the positive and negative power cables connected to the trailers converter/charger and the smaller positive and negative wires are connected to your inverter. There is probably an even smaller red wire that is for your front jack. If you have solar, then you have even more wires than these, positive and negative coming to the batteries from the charge controller.
