Yes All of your interior lights and the water pump are 12 volt to allow off grid camping. The power supply circuit that charges the battery could be damaged if no battery is in the circuit.
Your batteries won't matter if you are plugged into shore power. Even if you travel between sites w/power, your tow vehicle should supply enough to keep the fridge cold IF the batteries aren't completely trashed.
I guess there are differing positions in this! I didn't see the above before posting mine...
The 12v draws (lights, pump, venues, etc.) should still be powered through the converter while on shore power. I'm not sure if NOT having batteries installed at all will damage something. I would think you'd be fine, but hopefully some others will chime in as well.
If no batteries are installed, you will not have break-away brakes. You need these in case the trailer separates form the TV!
Not only do you need them......they are required by state law for trailers in excess of a certain weight. In many states, that threshold is 3000lbs. Some are higher....some lower but you WILL require a battery if for no other purpose than to be an available power source for trailer brake activation in the event of a disconnect from the tow vehicle.
