Alternator not charging

I recently had 4 battle born GC2 and a Victron solar Charge controller Mpp 100/30 installed in my 2018 Interstate. For some reason the alternator does not charge the batteries.

Any ideas

It's possible

It's possible you need to look into a DC to DC converter for your tow vehicle.
Most newer trucks have super high output alternators but don't actually send much if any to the trailer in the way of charging amperage and for this they make what's referred to as DC to DC converters which usually take really large wires (Like welding wire size) and connectors to get any serious juice to the trailer.
Just an idea as I'm no expert and never even played one in a movie, so all my advice is well worth what you paid for it.

Do a search for the converters and see if this will solve your needs.

Alternator not charging

Capt Kirk

It’s an Airstream Interstate van per member profile. Not a Dodge Ram rattler.

Yer camping buddy in SC

Unless I’m way way way out in left field.

I believe I have seen posts about new Interstates having DC to DC converters from the factory so they could charge lithium batteries and isolate chassis battery when engine is not running. So while captiankirk's advise is out of context it is still good.

EDIT; I believe the posts were about them not working correctly because they were not setup correct from the factory.

Yes - it is a As Interstate GT 2018. I too have seen some post about needing a Dc-dc converter, but it apparently was only needed for certain type of alternators- and I don’t know if the 2018 AS which is based on 2017 Meecedes Sprinter 3500 needs one. The shop who installed my bb batteries has not run into this ( they are highly recommended for van conversions).
