IMO, there are pluses to either, and no minuses.

Only variable is ahr capacity. Which will better meet your needs?. Plus to AGM is no maintenance.

There are some other physical factors. Available physical dimensions vs. Space constraints. Inside vs. Outside placements. Maximizing Ah capacity, given those considerations. Necessary charger/controller changes?

Because the 6 volt (golf cart) batteries are taller you can get more amp hours in a smaller footprint.

Both are notable battery types that would be a great upgrade. Both a highly durable, long life, deeper discharge capabilities over standard batts.

AGM
Pros
- no need to water
- higher charge and discharge rates (to run higher wattage inverters)
Cons
- cost
- if abused or accidentally damaged with deep discharge in storage, cost to replace

6V FLA
Pros
- Cost
- Easy to source
Cons
- Have to water couple times a year

Weight vs. Ah capacity gives AGMs a nod over flooded.....if that is a concern.

Thanks all for your responses. If I go with 6V, I'll need to modify the battery box, right?

Vinnie's North Bay used to have a drop in adapter to expand the battery box. You might want to check with him.

First of all If you are considering 6V batteries (more amp hrs.) I can highly recommend Lifeline AGM deep cycle batteries. Mine have been in service since 2013 and still strong.
