30 amp Fuse why so big??

I have a 22’ 2022 Caravel that has had lithium batteries put in. Of course the AGM’s are gone the original wiring for the tongue jack is still intact. My question is why such an enormous 30 amp blade fuse? The side from the jack is 10 awg and other is battery cable.

Thanks from puzzled.

It's a Maxi fuse and they are commonly used on heavy inrush applications like motors, instead of fusible links. The reason is because they have more time delay than a normal ATC or ATO blade fuse. When starting a heavily loaded motor there is a high inrush current and the Maxi fuse will hold up to that.

10 AWG is perfect for that short distance.
