Add me to the list of Interstate battery early failures. Probably due to poor battery maintenance at AS dealer. I’m not sure of the manufacture date of our 2020 GT 25 FB twin. We picked it up (used) (very lightly) in February. Tested batteries today, before heading out next week. Coming off the charger they are reading 12.4. I’m taking them into the Interstate dealer in about an hour to see what they’ll offer. Cannot go back to the AS dealer, as they are 250 mi away.
I think I’m going to take this opportunity to go to six volt maintenance free batteries.
Do I need to change converter out to properly charge 6 volt?
Supposedly the new converter is better and does not cook batteries like the one did in our 2011 FC. I’ve kept it plugged into 30 amp service since we bought it. It supposedly charges batteries on store or use mode also.
I just don’t want to swap out converters right now, if I can help it.
Anything else I need to do in going to 6 volt? The box looks big and deep enough to handle the batteries. I’ve just got to figure out how to wire it.
Thx
