12/3000 Victron Multiplus AC in and out wiring

Hello,
Would like your opinion/advice on wire gauge for my 120v AC in and out connections to my Victron Multiplus 3000. I have a 30amp 2013 27FB and I am in the process of installing the inverter under the bed.

It looks like the rough length of wire required to go from the inverter to the AC distribution panel would be 25 ft. I was planning to use 6 AWG but I think for 30 amp I should be okay with 8 AWG. By using 8 vs 6 I am saving space and can use a smaller conduit along the bedroom wall.

For those of you with a Multiplus 3K what did you use?

Thanks,
Peter

I used 6 awg for both the inverter (Victron Multiplus 3000) to AC panel and shore power to inverter. My total run for both was less than 20'. Keep in mind your shore power is routed to the Inverter also so you might want to look at voltage drop for both runs.

Here's a simple online calculator to give you an idea of what the voltage drop is.

57 vintage, using your calculator, 10ga romex is adequate. Result is still much less than the 3% drop many code books require...

That's true. My goal was to minimize voltage drop, not meet a code acceptable limit.

Your 30Amp unit will be fine with 10awg for the input and output of your MultiPlus 3000.
Voltage drop is not an issue on your length runs.

Thanks guys I appreciate the advice.

I am a bit concerned with the shore power to inverter. Considering the 25ft cord to the pedestal, plus from the plug to the transfer switch behind the AC distribution panel, and then the 25 foot run to the Multiplus. This might need 8 AWG.

Now my next issue is the fact that I cant find 8/2 or 10/2 NM-B wire at the Canadian distributors. They only seem to stock 8/3 and 10/3. I might go with single 8 AWG and run 6 wires (3 each way). I can easily buy it in red, black, green, and white.

I can order 10/2 and 8/2 from US but it is pricey and wont get here for 10 days. I am hoping to run the wire this weekend.
